Fatha syllables

Before you start

1. Quiet room, fan and AC off. Phone or laptop about a hand-span from your mouth, a little to the side.
2. Each letter comes four ways: alone, at the start of a word (كَـ), in the middle (ـكَـ) and at the end (ـكَ). The line under the letter tells you how to say it.
3. Fatha stays short, one count: ba, not baa. Keep the same loudness throughout.
4. Tap Record, wait half a second, say it, wait half a second, tap Stop. Listen, then Keep or Redo.

The bar shows your level while recording. Aim for about two thirds; red means too loud.

Tap any syllable to go back to it. Kept takes stay on this device, even if you close the page.

Send them

When you've kept them all, download them as one zip and put it in your madarij folder. Each file is already named.

Words from your syllables

Each word is your kept syllables played back to back, with the silence trimmed. Words light up once their syllables are recorded.

How they join

Spacing below zero pushes each syllable into the one before it; above zero leaves a pause. Cut start trims the lead-in of every syllable. Cut end shortens the fatha tail of every syllable except the last, so the word still ends naturally. Your settings are remembered on this device.
